Tony doesn't have a response for that. But he hopes and desperately wants to believe that Jesus is right. That it's not impossible to be saved even after having done things that place him well over the horizon. He wants to be better. Be someone he can be proud of. He thought being Iron Man would do it.

It hasn't. There's still a void inside him. He bows his head cautiously, hands balled into fists, hoping this won't remind him of being drowned in that cave in Afghanistan. Nothing would be worse than to break down in front of Jesus. It would be more humiliating than he could probably take.
